Home Who We Are

The Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network is headed by Don Schroeder and the Rev. Madeleine Beard. Don Schroeder is the Bishop's Deputy for Public Policy in the Diocese of Maryland. He serves as the “Episcopal Voice in Annapolis” representing the Episcopal commitment to social justice and public policy issues before the Maryland General Assembly. MEPPN is part of the Diocese of Maryland's Justice and Peace Ministries and networks with a number of coalitions, including the Maryland Interfaith Legislative Committee.

The Rev. Madeleine Beard works to expand the membership of the email subscribers to the MEPPN.  She keeps members informed on key issues with both Legislative Alert emails and on this site at "Legislation This Year" and encourages Maryland Episcopalians to take action on the issues in accordance with the established positions of the Episcopal church.

Lawmakers in Maryland are very interested in hearing from their constituents and special interest groups. When a member of the Maryland Episcopal Public Policy Network contacts their legislator, it enhances the message Don Schroeder conveys to them in person or the testimory he or other Maryland Episcopalians give before public hearings of the General Assembly committees.

We will continue to work to make information available and to enable you to access your representatives both in Washington and Annapois.

"Around the State" is devoted to Justice and Peace activities in the three dioceses in Maryland.  Please share your church or community activities with Madeleine+ at MEPPN .
